August, 2013 Meeting
1:12 pm est
Our August meeting was held on Wednesday,
August 7, at the Berkeley Electric Coop Building. The meeting was late starting so that we could celebrate
the upcoming birth of Baby Martz.
meeting began with a blessing and the reading of our Mission Statement. Claudette read the minutes of last
month’s meeting. The minutes were accepted with two corrections.
Sharon gave the Treasurer’s Report. Our
current balance is $4,713.66.
first topic of discussion was the entertainment for our next tea in March. After discussion it was decided
that we would start the entertainment with a dance by Ellie Sineath. We will follow that with a plant demonstration
by Debbie Hayes. Claudette will contact Judy for contact information for Debbie Hayes.
Our new business discussion began with Claudette announcing
that our secretary, Linda Rourk, had resigned. Lin agreed to takes notes for the August meeting; Elizabeth
later took over the task. Elizabeth is willing to accept the duties of Secretary, but we decided to accept
other nominations for the position through the day before our next meeting. Anyone wishing to have their
name included on the ballot for the election of our new secretary would therefore need to submit their name by Tuesday, September
3, for inclusion on the ballot and the election on Wednesday, September 4.
We then began our discussion of the By-Law changes. The proposed changes were discussed,
amended, and approved, except for the changes on page 1. We need to verify that our organization is, in
fact, a corporation. We also need to complete our filing with the IRS regarding tax exempt status.
Copies of the amendments as approved will be sent to members when the information has been updated.
Mary has agreed to be our Tea Chairperson again this year.
Sharon and Marynell have volunteered to serve on the committee with her.
Claudette talked about the Habitat for Humanity tea.
The meeting was then adjourned.
